Participating in TYCs action packed School Holiday Programs are lots of fun and sees participants make lots of new friends while also improving on their acting skills, self-confidence, problem solving abilities, communication and presentation skills, as well as their fostering their individual creativity.

Children and Young People from across the region can decide to select one of our 4-Day Drama School Programs (Rec. 5yrs – 14yrs) or one of our full day Masterclass Sessions (Rec. 5yrs – 12yrs).

4-DAY DRAMA SCHOOL PROGRAM (5YRS - 14YRS)

Throughout our 4-Day Drama School Program, students develop the essentials of stage performance through improvisation, role-play and characterization activities. They discover how improvisation techniques and the elements of drama (voice, movement, and body language) can be applied to scene work and inject clarity and spontaneity into their performance. In doing so participants develop their ability to think on their feet while performing in front of a live audience. 

Participants will also have the opportunity to explore set and costume design as well as incorporating multi-media performance elements such as sound, lighting and live projections. At the end of the program participants will receive a certificate of achievement, autographed tailor made program, as well as an option to receive a keepsake DVD of the show! They will perform for their parents and friends on the final afternoon in The Young Company’s very own Adventure Theatre Studio,

1-DAY MASTERCLASS SESSIONS (5YRS - 12YRS)

Come and check out TYCs New Masterclass sessions these school holidays, where specific acting techniques will take centrestage. It is a great way for students to test the waters of their creative talents or to refine their developing stage craft, while also meeting like-minded creatives as themselves. Programs have been designed to also offer a show and tell at the end of the day for students to practically explore performing to a live audience.

SESSION ONE | CIRCUS & PHYSICAL THEATRE
Tumble, Trip and Turn into TYC for this one day intensive where you will tackle the beginning of circus and physical theatre through basic slapstick, stage combat, and acro-balance.This is a chance to explore the physical tricks and turns of being a performer. Learn how to dodge the blast of a magic wand like a true magician while developing your dramatic communication and how to show your thoughts and feelings with the audience before falling headlong into how to fight with foam rubber fish, balloon swords, plastic clubs and squeaky chickens! As we start off small with a stumble and gradually escalate throughout the day into full Slapstick and knockabout routine for family and friends to view at the end of the day.. You can have as many trips, falls, eye pokes and custard pies as you like! Safety Mat will be provided.Safe stage combat and slapstick techniques are employed to create the illusion of magical superhuman fights.

SESSION TWO | SPOTLIGHT ON SCRIPTS
DRAMA, ACTION, ROMANCE, MYSTERY or THRILLER! Which will it be? Work with a short script in this one day intensive at TYC and explore your given characters unique personal qualities and traits. Learn how to bring them alive on stage by applying a range of acting techniques. Show off your mad drama king or queen talents by working with others to create short performance pieces to show and tell at the end of the day for your family and friends. Come and tread the boards with TYC!

SESSION THREE | MUSICAL MAGIC THEATRE
Hey Guys and Dolls!  We've go your creativity covered these holidays! If you want to hear The Sound of Music and dance to the beat of A Chorus Line then come along and join our Musical Magic one day intensive and have a Wicked good time. Learn the dance and sing along to a hit Broadway musical and present in the limelight to your family, friends and adoring fans! And who knows, you may just be The Lion King, or a Dreamgirl.  Anything Goes with Musical Magic.
